Martha Martinez, 83, of Avoca, TX, was reunited with her late husband, Jose on, Tuesday, January 24, 2023. Rosary was held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Tanker - sley Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held Friday, January 26, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stamford, TX with Father Alex Amburose officiating. Burial followed in Spring Creek Cemetery at Avoca, TX under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home. Martha was born March 26, 1939 in Matamoros, Mexico, to Jose and Guadalupe (Terrones) Olivares. She attended school in Lueders, TX and was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stamford. Martha Olivares and Jose Martinez were unit- ed in marriage on April 23, 1966 in Stamford, Texas, celebrating 52 years together before he preceded her in death on October 24, 2018. Martha was a caring, helping-others type person who shared these assets for several years with her clients as a caregiver for Girling Health Care. She liked to be surrounded by plants, flowers, and gardening. Her family will lovingly remember her for her love for eating cheesecake, ice cream and Starbucks, riding in fast cars and recently discovering TikTok. Martha devoted her life to reading her Bible, taking care of her family, and keeping them on track. Going out to eat was a treat for Martha. She also enjoyed going to the mall to people-watch entertaining her family with faux stories about the people she observed. As a mom, grandma and friend, Martha will be greatly missed! Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Guadalupe, her husband Jose Martinez, Sr., brother, Jessie Olivares, sister Alicia Alvarado and a granddaughter Shantal Moon. Survivors include her 5 children, Lupie Kaufmann of Fort Worth, TX, Esteban Martinez of Anson, TX, Jose Martinez, Jr. and wife Michelle of Fort Worth, TX, Elizabeth Secakuku of Phoenix, Arizona and Michelle Davis and husband Justin of Hamlin, TX; 3 sisters, Janie Gonzales, Maria Elena Torres, and Anita Reyes; 2 brothers, Manual Olivares, and Gerardo Olivares. 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
