Juanita Olivares Gonzales September 140, 1934 - November 9, 2023
Juanita Olivares Gonzales, 88, of Stamford passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023 in Abilene. Rosary will be said Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass was at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 13 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Albert Devanesan officiating. Burial followed in the Spring Creek Cemetery in Avoca under the direction of Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home. Juanita was born September 14, 1935 in Aguas Caliente, Mexico to Jose and Guadalupe Terrones Olivares. She married Refugio Gonzales August 3, 1958 in Lamesa, Texas and moved to Jones County. She is a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Juanita was known for her great cooking, love of family and music. She was the strength of her family, full of love but firm in her ways. She is preceded in death by her parents; one son Ruben Gonzales; two grandsons Nicholas Gonzales and Devon Van Zandt; two sisters Martha Martinez and Elisa Alvarado; one brother Jesse Olivares. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Refugio Gonzales Sr. of Stamford; her children Lupe and Johnny Gonzales of Stamford, Refugio Jr. and Francis Gonzales of Abilene, Clara Carter of Stamford, Rosa and Alfred Robles of Stamford, and Martin Gonzales of Stamford; Daughter- in- law Lisa Gonzales of Stamford; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters Maria Torres of Diboll and Anita Reyes of Diboll; brothers Manuel Olivares of Elsa, Texas and Henry Olivares of Diboll; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
