Ruben Benjamin Gonzales, 55, of Stamford passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in an Abilene hospital. Rosary was held Friday, April 16 at 7:00 in Kinney-Underwood Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass was at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17 in St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kurumbel officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Anson. Ruben was born June 15, 1965 in Stamford to Refugio and Juanita Olivares Gonzales. He graduated from Stamford High School and went on receive an Associate’s Degree from Western Texas College in Snyder. He married Lisa Garcia September 10, 1988 in Anson. He was an active member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and The Knights of Columbus. Ruben worked in floor construction for many years, when not working his time was spent helping family and friends. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing. He is preceded in death by one son Nicholas Gonzales; Mother-in-law Lupe Garcia; and Grandfather Jose Olivares. He is lovingly survived by his wife Lisa Gonzales of Stamford; Son Jacob Gonzales of Stamford; Parents Refugio Sr. and Juanita Gonzales of Stamford; Sisters Lupie and husband Johnny Gonzales of Stamford, Clara Carter of Stamford, Rosa and Alfred Robles of Stamford; Brothers Refugio Jr. and Wife Frances Gonzales of Abilene, Martin Gonzales of Stamford; Father-in-law G. R.
