James L. Black, 77 a lifetime resident of Jones County passed away Sunday, August 22 at his home. A memorial service was held Thursday, September 2nd at 5:00 p.m. in the Kinney-Underwood Funeral Chapel with Terry Wilhite offi ciating. Family requested all attendees wear masks. James was born February 5, 1944 in Stamford to E.J. Black Sr. and Tula Tyreen Beasley Black. He graduated from Anson High School. He married Jeanne Patricia Ann Thrower on February 2, 1976 in Anson. James spent many years working as a mechanic and truck driver. He and Jeanne have always been avid animal lovers. They have rescued many dogs and cats over the last 46 years. He is survived by his wife Jeanne Black of Stamford; 3 daughters Tina Myrick of Alba, TX, Vivian Priest of Lexington, SC and Daphne Galloway and Leslie of Hamlin, TX; Son Jason Wilkerson and Larry of Dallas; Sisters Etta Woodard of Hawley, TX and Frances Ward of Anson; Brother-in-Law Thomas Thrower of Fort Worth; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved pets Rusty and Ivy Mae. In lieu of fl owers the family has requested memorials be sent to Ben Richey Boys Ranch, Hendrick Rehab and Rescue the Animals.
