James Allen Mullins

James Allen Mullins, 69 of Stamford, passed away October 26, 2021 in Haskell. A graveside service was held 10:00 a.m. Friday October 29 in New Hope Cemetery with Rev. Tony Grand officiating under the directions of Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home. James was born September 8, 1952 in Stamford to the late Guy Allen and Thelma Frances (Skiles) Mullins. He married Tona Patterson on December 19, 1975 in Stamford. He was a lifetime resident of Stamford and later moved to Lake Stamford where he was lovingly known as “The Mayor of Veda’s Camp”. He worked as warehouse foreman for Big Country Electric for 18 years. James was a member of the First Baptist Church and also of the Sons of Hermann Lodge in Old Glory. He had numerous hobbies and was known for all of his yard art proudly displayed at Christmas and the wooden Bulldogs around town. Other interest of James’ was flying remote control planes where he was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and he collected model cars. James was also active in the designing and rebuilding of Harmon Park. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and aunts and uncles. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Tona Mullins of Stamford; his son Jeff Latham of Austin, Texas; sister Thelma Roysdon of Iowa Park, Texas; 2 brothers Johnny Mullins and wife Julie and Robert Mullins all of Stamford; brother-inlaw Tommy Patterson and Wife Kathy of Weatherford, Texas and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Serving as pallbearers are Johnny Mullins, Robert Mullins, Tommy Patterson, Dale Patterson, Mike Sawyers, Joe Collier, Joe Brewer, Cary McClintock, Adam Boger, and Gary Davis.
