Sarah Ann Gardner 75, of Stamford, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021 in an Anson Hospital. The family received guests from 6-7 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2021. A graveside celebration of her life was held in the Highland Memorial Cemetery Saturday, March 20, 2021 with Superintendent Samuel Tabor officiating, directed by Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home. Sarah was born August 16, 1945 in Stamford, the daughter of the late Clarence and Naomi Marsh Woods. She was a member of the Church of God in Christ where she served as chairperson of the usher board. She loved going to church and spending time with her church family. Sarah worked as an Aide at the Stamford elementary school for several years and loved the time she spent with the children. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, and was well known for her homemade peach cobbler. Her family was the utmost importance to her including her children, grandchildren and sisters. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother Clarence Woods. She is survived by daughters Rayshell Onyekwelu of Houston and Sarah Dee Woods of Stamford; sons Edward Dale Gardner Jr. and wife Jacqueline of Bossier City, LA, and Tony Gardner of Grand Prairie, TX; Grandchildren Jamee Jones, C. C. Onyekwelu, Erica Gardner, Jennifer Lightell, Edward Gardner III, Jason Gardner, Amy Gardner, T. J. Gardner, Tony Gardner Jr., Desta Santos-Gardner and Zaylon Gardner; Great-grandchildren Amhrye Gardner, Angel Gardner, Emory Gardner and Gucci Gardner; Sisters Virginia “Aunt Slim” Baker, Glenda Standifer and Bertha Owens; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
